Highlights of 2016

2016 has been a big year for In The Window! We’ve had a abundance of stunning new windows, a plethora of new windowkeepers, and a groundbreaking new platform for journalists and bloggers to boot! Below, we give a recap of some of the most exciting happenings at In The Window in 2016.

Designers in 2016 have pushed boundaries in interior design, combining materials in unexpected ways and bringing together eclectic traditions from distant places and times. At In The Window, we feel privileged to have been able to been able to bring some of this great design to our audience of interior enthusiasts.

One of the biggest successes that we’ve had this year was the launch of our exciting new platform Press Spaces, a platform for press to connect with design brands and download high-quality images and press releases.

“Since In The Window’s launch in 2015, we have been regularly approached by press for content for upcoming features,” says Rani Saad, founder and CEO. “We realised they had a need to access curated, timely and visually powerful content that would resonate with their audiences. Our new service answers this need.”

Press Spaces

Press Spaces launched in September, a propitious time of the year for design. To help the site go off with a bang, we decided to go to the Top Drawer Exhibition in London, and, teaming up with award-winning surface designer Daniel Heath we erected an interactive screen-printing workshop, at which visitors, as well as press and bloggers, could try their hand at creating luxury hand-printed wallpapers à la Daniel Heath Studio.

“In terms of explaining my craft process, this is the best trade stand I have had to date as a designer,” says Daniel Heath.

The stand also featured a literal window designed by Jardine Couture  through which passersby could look and learn about In The Window and Press Spaces, and copper pendant lighting by Pooky.

We had such fun with the workshop, and we received such a positive response, that we decided to do it again! Surrounded by the botanical beauty of Kew in West London, we set up a stall at Handmade at Kew: another screen-printing workshop, led by Daniel Heath, and a linocutting workshop with Peaceable Kingdom Cushions. The idea was that visitors could “Live the Story” that they had already encountered In The Window, materialising a virtual experience.

We have had a number of collaborations with big-name design shows this year, including Decorex, Top Drawer, and London Design Fair. We’ve picked a few of our favourite images from those shows for you to enjoy below. All that’s left is to wish you all a happy New Year from everyone at In The Window! May the coming year be filled with as much exciting design as 2016 was!
